A city that fills up and empties out
Arlington is famous for what is in the middle of it: the stadiums, the ballpark, the entertainment district and the theme park. Around them, the city is made of neighborhoods, a large university campus, and wide commercial roads like Cooper Street, Collins Street and Division Street. On event days some businesses are swamped and others, a block away, are empty.
Arlington is also halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth, and many customers drive through it every day. A salon, a diner or a tire shop near the interstate sees as many people passing as people living nearby.
Event days and university terms
Game and concert days create a very specific kind of call: a visitor's car has a flat, a hotel guest needs a haircut for an event, a family wants a table. The calls come at odd hours, from people who do not know the area and will call the first number that answers. The university adds a rhythm of its own. At the start of a term students need phone repair, haircuts and car work; in the break the shops go quiet, and a monthly note to past customers helps fill the gap.
Nora, the phone assistant we set up, can be told what to say on a game day: shortened hours, a different address for parking, a waiting time. You approve the wording.
Mansfield, Grand Prairie and the in-between
Arlington businesses often serve the neighboring towns: Mansfield to the south, Grand Prairie to the west, Pantego, Dalworthington Gardens and Kennedale in between. A plumber based off Cooper Street may spend half the week in Mansfield. Setting the service area at the start means the answering and the booking pages use the same map you do.
Many customers in this part of the metro speak Spanish at home, and Nora answers in English or Spanish.
What is set up behind your name
A phone line answered when you cannot, a booking page per service, a review request after the job, a Google listing that holds the right hours, and a Monday email with the week's numbers. For a business near the stadiums, the Google listing matters most: visitors search on their phones and decide from what the listing shows.
Where text is part of your confirmations, it switches on after your business texting is registered.
Trades and shops that use it
Auto repair, detailing and car wash, salons and barbers, pest control and plumbing companies are typical. See our Arlington web design page for the website side.
